10 things that make a headshot incredible.

10. Dress to impress.

This should be a given, the subject has to look the part. They should be wearing appropriate clothing that fits well and their hair should be maintained and styled.

Do’s: Dry-clean, press, or iron clothing and be sure to use a lint roller to remove unwanted hair and lint.

Don’t: Wear thin stripes or complex patterns as screens don’t render them well.

9. The focus should be tack-sharp.

There is nothing worse than an out-of-focus professional portrait. Be sure to zoom in and make sure that the subjects eyes are tack-sharp and the background should be blurred forcing all the attention to be on the subject.

8. Smiles are more important than you think.

People are hardwired to respond positively to people who are smiling, that’s why salesmen are always taught to “Smile at the customer” it’s free way to attract customer attention.

So the subject has to have a great smile or at least look like their having a great time.

We understand it’s hard for clients to show up and start giving genuine smiles on command especially in front of the camera, but rest assure that we take great pride in our ability to get anyone to smile, and maybe even laugh a little!


8. Location, Location, Location.

A studio headshot is great but an on-location headshot is incredible. This style of headshot really makes the subject pop! There is many reasons to shoot on location but one is to show off the
